I love boats, and the colorful fishing boats that line Dakar’s beaches were what interested me in traveling to Senegal. Mosque of the Divinity sits above a beach covered in some of the most beautiful fishing boats I saw during my time there.

Lac Rose, Senegal
Lac Rose, located about an hour outside Dakar, has an algae in the water that turns the water pink. It also has a high salt content (equivalent to the Dead Sea), allowing salt to be mined and exported across West Africa.

Ngor Island, Senegal
Ngor Island is a small pedestrian island just off the northern coast of Dakar. It’s so close, you can see it from Ngor Beach and it takes just a few minutes by boat to arrive. You can explore the island on foot in around an hour, and then have lunch at one of the restaurants
